Background

This 1973 SM is an Italian market model with fuel injection (SC series) and cloth interior. It has a little over 60,000 miles on it. The picture you see above is how it looked in late June 2017 after after sitting under a cover for 35+ years.
In June, 2016, my father passed away leaving my mother with his long dormant Citroen SM. The car was purchased in 1980 while my father, a Boeing Aerospace Engineer who was working as a consulting engineer to AerItalia near Naples, Italy. On his return to the Seattle area in late 1981, he imported the car and it pretty much sat under a cover since then. It was running and licensed at the time, but life got busy and the car eventually just sat under a cover.
This is how it looked after removing the car cover that had hidden it since the 1980s...

The car had just about 60k miles and was pretty much a (very dusty and dirty) time capsule.
By 2Q17, it was time for mom to sell her house and the car needed to be moved.
Rather than just offer the car up for sale as a project, I decided to get it roadworthy again.
In June, 2017 – I got the car up off its haunches (using this trick), pushed it out in the driveway, and trailered it to my house near Quilcene, Washington (approximately 100 miles and a ferry trip).
